Randy

Hamilton: Randy, Desexed, Vaccinated (Filavac 10/10/23), 6 month old Flemish Giant

Randy is an adorable bunny who likes to run free in the backyard while we are home and hop around inside the house (with all the bedrooms etc doors closed). While he’s not that interested in voluntarily hopping on your lap he will stay for a while if you pick him up and give him a full body rub, a scratch behind his ears and feed him some treats. We pick him up and cuddle him a lot so he is used to being handled by adults and children.

Food wise he never says no to a slice of banana and has very high expectations. His favourite foods are raspberry leaves, strawberry leaves, broccoli leaves, mint, sage, oregano, spinach, beetroot leaves, capsicum, cucumber, slice of carrot, freeze dried raspberries, coriander and hay. I grow him trays of wheat grass, but he will only eat the tips then ignore it. I also make him potpourri out of edible flowers, roses are his favourite. I grow a lot of stuff in my vege garden and I'm always on the look out in other peoples gardens for leaves he likes. He wont eat food it if its wilted, so I have a bucket with water that I put larger leaves in and a plastic container filled with water with a plastic grid on top that I poke leaves into so he can graze throughout the day in his cage. He also gets pellets each day, he enjoys Topflite and Burgess but don’t bother with the Harringtons brand, he will tip them out of his bowl in disgust.

His goals in life are to find the fizzy hay (luckily hes only managed to chew one cord in 15 places) and he would love to know whats on the other side of the fence!  He tried to dig his way out under the gate but must’ve got disturbed and moved on to somethings else. He doesn’t dig where plants are but loves a clear patch to dig in.

I bring him inside every night into an indoor enclosure which then put him outside in his cage for the night.

He uses a litter tray which I line with newspaper and then hay which he eats while doing his business. He is very clean and always uses his litter tray. I empty the tray onto my vege garden for fertiliser.

I would like to find him a new home that will provide for his needs. He is a big bunny and needs a big area to bunny around in. Our plan was to get a wife bunny for Randy once he was neutered as he would make a great husbun and have them free ranging in the house and backyard while I worked from home. However that has turned out to be unrealistic as I am working away from home and its just too hard making the house bunny proof for them and still liveable for us without having to fence things off. We will be sad to see him go, he really is a sweet guy and has the softest fur. Everything he does is super cute. Will only let him go to the right home.
